Miss Culture Malawi in votes’ drive by Sam Banda- Daily Times
Miss Culture Malawi Malumbo Mtonga has stepped up preparations for Miss Culture International to be held in South Africa next month by calling for votes for her to do well.
Mtonga, who was crowned Miss Culture Malawi in June this year, said Tuesday that she needs more votes ahead of Miss Culture International grand finale running from November 28 to December 4.
“Thirty-nine countries are competing including Malawi. So as is per tradition with many beauty pageants, there is online voting to get people into the top 15 and, in this case, contestants that will have highest votes especially top five will automatically make it into the top 15,” Mtonga said.
She said being in top 15 means one has chances of winning and that voting makes it easier for one to succeed and have less competition.
“There is a link that people can follow www.pageantvote.net/1492 and then you follow the instructions and vote for a contestant. There is also another way where you can give your contestant a boost by buying votes. Zimbabwe, for instance, has 8,000 votes now because they are capable of buying votes and well-wishers can help,” Mtonga said.
She said she is now remaining with a few days as voting closes on October 31.
“People can follow Miss Culture Malawi on Instagram and Facebook to get the link,” Mtonga said.
Miss Culture Malawi will leave the country on November 28 for the grand finale.
Miss Culture International Chief Executive Officer, Lorraine Kljajic, said Tuesday they were geared for the international pageant.
“Preparations are at an advanced stage and we are looking forward to the grand finale,” Kljajic said.
Ahead of the grand finale, Kljajic said they have sent out Miss Culture Malawi Second Princess Murimu Kachitsa to represent the country at the Miss Premium.
According to Kljajic, Miss Culture International is there to celebrate beauty, talent and art.
“We are excited about Malawi participating in this first competition with the rest of the world. Being part of the core international organising team gives me pride that we are not being left behind,” Kljajic said.
